WHAT:
KeyTrain® is the complete interactive training system for the WorkKeys® basic workplace skills. KeyTrain
provides a comprehensive learning system for common skills required by all jobs, based on ACT’s WorkKeys®
employment system.
The Adult Learning Center is pleased to offer access to KeyTrain in the Adult Learning Center’s Computer
Learning Lab, or from home. Participants may purchase blocks of time in which to work through the nine KeyTrain
components listed below:
• Reading for Information
• Applied Mathematics
• Locating Information
• Applied Technology
• Writing
• Business Writing
• Listening
• Observation
• Teamwork
The KeyTrain® system includes targeted, self-paced instruction, pre- and post-assessments, a complete
learning management system and an occupational job profiles database. These components can be used to
help individuals learn, practice and demonstrate the skills they need to succeed in the jobs and careers they desire.
WHEN:
KeyTrain® is available Fridays from 1:15 - 2:45 p.m. in the Computer Learning Lab or as a distance learning
component in the privacy of your own home.
COST:
Purchase blocks of online access time - 45 days for $75
WHY:
If you are currently looking for a job or are eager to improve your skills in the workplace, this system can
help. In addition, once you complete all parts of the system, you may take the WorkKeys® assessment and
earn the Career Readiness Certifi cate. Virginia’s Career Readiness Certifi cate (CRC) is an assessment-based
credential that gives employers and career seekers a uniform measure of key workplace skills. This credential
would enhance your portfolio and increase your chances of becoming hired in today’s competitive job market.
