3400 ONE-ON-ONE MATH

Brush up on your math skills and receive personal attention and immediate feedback from an instructor who will tailor the course to your math needs. This course is available throughout the semester. Online registration is not available; you may register by mail, fax (306-0999), or in person at the Adult Learning Center, 4160 Virginia Beach Boulevard. The instructor will contact you to arrange a class time, date, and approved location. Additional hours may be purchased at $30 per hour.

Basic math is a big part of our daily lives in a variety of ways. Are whole numbers and parts of numbers a complete mystery? Do you have trouble with fractions when working on DIY projects or when cooking? Do you know how to apply percentages? Using a variety of common examples such as maps, sports scores, sales discounts, and cooking, you will learn about whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percents. Join us in this fun, informal environment with an instructor who is passionate about math and watch the fog of confusion disappear. All knowledge levels welcome!

Do you know how percentages are related to rates or how rates affect the cost of travel, groceries, gas, or other purchases? If you knew how to figure out ratios, could it enhance your job performance? By building on the basics learned in Nuts and Bolts Math 1, you will learn to make sense of percents, rates, and proportions. Join us in a no-pressure, easily digestible math class taught by an instructor who respects everyone's knowledge level. PREREQUISITE: Nuts and Bolts Math 1 or basic knowledge of simple fractions, decimals, and percents.
